DOPAMINE PATHWAY: ETS MAKE A NEURON
The ETS family of transcription factors bind to a conserved
cis-regulatory element in dopamine responsive genes to promote
neuronal differentiation.

Rab11b belongs to the Rab GTPase family of proteins that constitutes
the largest group within the Ras-like small monomeric GTPase
superfamily. Although the function and subcellular localization of
Rab11b has not yet been extensively investigated, recent studies
have shown that Rab11b regulates the targeting of recycling endosomes
to the cleavage furrow during mitosis - a step that is required for
the successful completion of cytokinesis.

IMMUNE REGULATION: DAMPENING INFLAMMATION
The CD24–SiglecG pathway selectively represses the NF-kappaB-driven
inflammatory response to danger-associated molecular patterns (DAMPs)
but not pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs), suggesting
that this pathway might be a general mechanism to distinguish between
tissue injury and infection.

METASTASIS: OXIDIZING ABNORMALITIES
The oxygen-sensitive prolyl hydroxylase Phd2 regulates endothelial
cell morphology, which consequently modifies the aggressiveness of
tumors.

RESISTANCE: AGGRAVATING THE AGGRESSOR
Increased Akt activity in glioblastoma multiforme appears to be
associated with the acquisition of stem cell-like properties and
therapeutic resistance.

Molecular profiling has enabled physicians to treat drug-resistant
tumors with custom therapies that specifically target oncogenic
proteins or pathways. According to the results from a pilot study
presented at the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR)
annual meeting, this form of tailored therapy improved
progression-free survival in over a quarter of cancer patients.

From humble beginnings as an obscure phenomenon in plants, RNA
interference (RNAi) has evolved into an area of significant impact
in numerous fields. The RNAi Gateway provides a convenient portal
into Nature Publishing Group publications relevant to every aspect
of RNAi.
The gateway features a library of relevant reviews and articles
organized by date, subject or organism.
