== IN THE SKY THIS WEEK == http://abcmail.net.au/t/96748/686964/1764/0/
The Last Quarter Moon is Friday February 29. The evening sky to the north is now dominated by Mars and Saturn. Mars forms a delightful broad triangle with the bright red stars Alderbaran and Betelgeuse, and is not far from the bright star Elnath. With the Pleiades cluster and Orion's belt nearby, the evening sky is particularly beautiful now. Saturn can be seen in the north-east near the bright star Regulus. Saturn was at its largest and brightest last week, but it will be still fantastic to observe the ringed world in a small telescope. If you don't have a telescope, why not go to your local astronomical societies or planetariums open days? In the morning twilight, Venus, Mercury and Jupiter are readily visible. The crescent Moon is very close to Jupiter on Monday March 3. Mercury and Venus start the week with a spectacular pairing on Thursday February 28. During the week they pull apart and are joined by the thin crescent Moon on Thursday March 6 for another amazing sight.
