DEVELOPMENT: ABRUPT INHIBITION OF CELL MIGRATION

The protein Abrupt is a point of convergence for the ecdysone and
JAK-STAT pathways during border cell migration in the developing
Drosophila oocyte.

NKG2D is a type 2 transmembrane protein with an extracellular C-type
lectin-like domain. Murine NKG2D binds to a set of ligands that have
sequence and structural similarity to class 1 major
histocompatibility complex proteins. Binding of NKG2D to a ligand
triggers a signaling cascade that can promote the cytotoxic
destruction of the cell expressing the ligand for NKG2D by the cell
expressing NKG2D.

DNA DAMAGE RESPONSE: HIGHER-ORDER BRCA1 COMPLEXITY
MERIT40 was identified as a novel component of a BRCA1-containing
complex that is required for DNA damage resistance and G2-M
checkpoint control.

THERAPEUTICS: TWO FOR ONE
A variant of the monoclonal antibody trastuzumab (Herceptin) can bind
two distinct cancer-related proteins - vascular endothelial growth
factor A (VEGFA) and ERBB2 - and block the growth of breast and colon
cancer cell lines.

NEURODEGENERATIVE DISEASE: AMYLOID-BETA AND PRPc: IT TAKES TWO
The cellular prion protein (PrPC) has been implicated in
the pathological actions of amyloid-beta oligomers at neuronal synapses.

The process by which antigen-presenting cells digest proteins and
display the resulting antigenic fragments for recognition by T cells
is central to the body's ability to detect infection or abnormal cell
growth. This FREE poster provides an overview of the intracellular
pathways and mechanisms by which antigens are captured, processed and
loaded onto MHC class I, class II and CD1d molecules for presentation
to T cells.
