PKD1 inhibits the activation of cofilin at the cell front via

Scy1-like 1 (Scyl1) is a member of the Scy1-like family of proteins
that contain highly conserved serine/threonine kinase domains,
although the members of this family seem to be catalytically
inactive. Scyl1 binds coat proteins from clathrin- and COPI-coated
vesicles, suggesting a function in vesicle trafficking. Scyl1 was
identified as the protein mutated in a murine neurodegenerative
disease model, revealing a previously unappreciated link between
COPI trafficking and neurodegeneration.
