== IN THE SKY THIS WEEK ==
The last quarter Moon is Friday April 17. Saturn is visible the entire night and can be easily seen as the second brightest object above the north-eastern horizon. It is about a third of the way between the bright stars Regulus and Spica, not far from the star beta Leonis. Saturn's rings are edge on, which will not occur again for another 14 years.

The morning sky is where all the action is, with five planets, two comets and the asteroid Juno. Sadly, Juno, Neptune and two comets that can only be seen in telescopes. Jupiter dominates the morning sky still, but is now being rivalled by Venus. Jupiter's moons are readily visible in a small telescope if you are an early morning riser. Venus is an obvious crescent in small telescopes or good quality strong binoculars. On April 16, Mars and Uranus can be seen together in good binoculars. On April 20 the crescent Moon is near Jupiter. Venus rises in the morning sky towards Mars and on the morning of April 22 the crescent moon, Mars and Venus make a delightful elongated triangle.
