Bone Marrow for Kidney Failure

View this message online

Hello manoj kumar valluru,

An interesting paper was published last week in the journal Stem Cells demonstrating inhibition of kidney failure using syngeneic bone marrow stem cells.  The company Allocure is in clinical trials using bone marrow for similar conditions.

Of patents issued last week,

#7,465,582 teaches how to induce dopaminergic differentiation of neural progenitor cells by coculture with astrocytes.

#7,465,442 discloses methods of inhibiting scar tissue formation by gene therapy with the cyclin dependent kinase inhibitor p21...

...and just a treat for the Holiday Season, #7,465,551 covers ways of determining how much G-CSF to give to a patient based on the concentration of G-CSF they have in circulation.  Our "blogging brothers" and Patently-O describe a very interesting case regarding a patent on determining effects of immunization on chronic disease...it may be interesting to read the discussion for that case after you read 7,465,551

Patent Number: 7,465,582

Various organs have regenerative capabilities, which are believed to occur as a result of endogenous stem cells or progenitor cells.  This has been described in the liver, pancreas, heart, and even brain.  Although...[Read More]

Bone Marrow Stem Cells for Renal Failure

Monday December 22nd, 2008 @ 18:13:58 EST

São Paulo, Brazil -

Bone marrow is classically known to be the site of hematopoiesis, thus "bone marrow transplant" has been successfully used for decades as a means of treating various hematological malignancies in which the recipient hematopoietic compartment is replaced by donor-derived stem cells.  More recent...[Read More]
