GLIOBLASTOMA: AN ATLAS OF SIGNALING PATHWAYS
The Cancer Genome Atlas Research Network has generated a
comprehensive data set of proteins and signaling pathways that are
deregulated in glioblastoma, which can be used to explore the
molecular mechanisms of tumorigenesis and inform the development of
targeted therapies.

Ksr1
http://ealerts.nature.com/cgi-bin24/DM/y/eoPe0Xztnp0H2W0B8mD0Ex
KSR1 is a member of the Kinase Suppressor of Ras (KSR) family of
proteins, which function as scaffolds for the ERK cascade. Members of
the KSR family interact with the core kinase components of the ERK
cascade - Raf, MEK and ERK - and provide spatial and temporal
regulation of Ras-dependent ERK cascade signaling. The KSR1 scaffold
complex also contains numerous other signaling proteins that can
impact ERK cascade activation, as well as the duration and amplitude
of ERK cascade signaling.

TUMORIGENESIS: TAKING THE MYC
Expression of a dominant-negative MYC mutant known as Omomyc reduces
lung tumor volume in mice without causing obvious side effects,
suggesting that MYC inhibition might be an effective anticancer
strategy.

The protein kinase C (PKC) inhibitor AEB071 has potential as a novel
treatment for psoriasis and other human diseases that are associated
with aberrant T-cell activation.
