GCAP1 (guanylyl cyclase activating protein 1) is a soluble protein
that localizes to the outer segments of rods and cones and regulates
their recovery from photoexcitation by modulating recGC-catalyzed
cGMP synthesis. GCAP1 stimulates retGC in the light, when the
hydrolysis of cGMP is fast, and decelerates retGC activity in the
dark, when cGMP hydrolysis is slow and its rapid resynthesis is not
required. Gain-of-function mutations in GCAP1 that deregulate cGMP
synthesis in the dark have been linked to congenital retinal
dystrophies

Caspase activity in Drosophila is regulated by a negative-feedback
loop in which effector caspases activate DIAP1 (Drosophila inhibitor
