== PARTICIPATE IN CATALYST'S NATIONAL LADYBIRD SURVEY ==
Most of us think of these beautiful little creatures as either red or orange with black spots, but there is a much greater variety of ladybird beetles than you might think. In fact there are more than 500 species of Coccinellidae in Australia. How many can you find? Grab your camera, get out into the backyard, or local park and take pictures of the ladybirds in your area. We will publish them on our ladybird map and you could even win a prize for your efforts.

== IN THE SKY THIS WEEK ==
The full Moon is Thursday 13 November and the last quarter Moon is Thursday 20 November. Bright Venus is easily seen high in the early evening sky bracketing the 'teapot' of Sagittarius with Jupiter (the brightest object in the sky after Venus). During the week, Venus and Jupiter come much closer together. On 17 November and 18 November Venus will be very close to the bright star Kaus Borealis in the lid of the 'teapot'. The asteroid Vesta can be seen in binoculars low in the east, near the tail of Cetus the Whale. Saturn can be seen low in the northeastern morning sky just before dawn.

Today Bob Holderness-Roddam, Project Officer with Volunteering Tasmania, tells of his experiences as a volunteer in Scotland in the 1960s protecting the nests of the few remaining breeding birds.
