Zili is required for germ cell differentiation and meiosis in
zebrafish
Piwi proteins and the associated piwi-interacting RNAs (piRNA) play an
important role in germline development. Here, Ketting and colleagues
further analyse the piRNA pathway in zebrafish, demonstrating that
Zili is required for piRNA generation, transposon silencing and
meiosis, and providing support for roles Ziwi and Zili in piRNA
amplification.
