N-myc downregulated gene 1 (NDRG1) is one of 4 members of the NDRG
alpha/beta-hydrolase family. NDRG1 mRNA and protein expression is
downregulated in advanced and poorly differentiated tumors of the
breast, prostate, pancreas and colon. NDRG1 is intensely investigated
as a biomarker for cancer progression and prognosis, and might hold
promise as a potential therapeutic target.

BISPHENOL A LINKED TO DISEASE IN HUMANS

High levels of bisphenol A (BPA) - a chemical used in some containers
for food and drink - may be associated with an increased risk or a
wide range of conditions, including low sperm count, altered fetal
development, behavioral disorders in children and prostate cancer.
Work in animals has suggested that BPA has the potential to disrupt
normal hormone signaling by mimicking the natural hormone, estrogen.
