New 'patch' for delivery of stem cells

View this message online Dear manoj kumar valluru, Last week a patent (#7,396,537) was issued covering a new type of "patch" for delivery of stem cells and other types of cells to injured hearts. Another patent (#7,396,680) was issued covering novel promoter sequences that are specific to CD34 and CD133 stem cells. An interesting paper describing the importance of angiogenesis in leukemias was published. This is interesting since...why would leukemias, that are considered "liquid tumors" need angiogenesis? Along the lines of neat research findings, Mick Croft's group from the La Jolla Institute of Allergy and Immunology reported mice knocked out for the costimulatory molecule 4.1BB have higher numbers of myeloid cells as well as dendritic cells.
