== ASK AN EXPERT: IS THERE A SALTY FRESH FRUIT? ==
All of us have tasted fresh fruits plucked direct from trees or plants: sweet oranges, bitter gourds, sour plums, piquant chillies; you name the rest. But is there a salty fresh fruit?

== DR KARL: WAGGING THE DOG ==
It's seems pretty easy to read the emotions of the dog, but what about those occasional cases when the dog still bites, even though the tail was wagging?

== IN THE SKY THIS WEEK ==
Full Moon Thursday 19 June. Mars and Saturn are above the north-west horizon in the early evening. Saturn can be seen near the bright star Regulus. During the week Mars moves towards Saturn and Regulus and by the end of the week the three form a shallow triangle. Jupiter can be seen as the brightest object above the eastern horizon in the evening and its moons look great in binoculars. Comet Boattini can be seen in the early evening sky through binoculars as a distinct fuzzy ball. Boattini leaves the constellation of Canis Major heading for Orion, but becomes increasingly difficult to see as it gets closer to the horizon and as the Moon brightens.

SCIENCE SHOW - A voyage to Antarctica
Saturday 14 June, 12.05pm & Monday 16 June, 7.05pm RN
This week on The Science Show Margot Foster takes us on a voyage aboard the Aurora Australis, Australia's research vessel which works in Antarctica. We travel from Hobart to the deep Southern Ocean. On board we join scientists as they sample plants, animals and ocean water. Very little is known about the biodiversity of these vast areas – and the race is on to learn more as atmospheric carbon dioxide dissolves into ocean water.

Saturday 14 June, 1.05pm, & Monday 16 June, 1.05pm RN
An April Fools prank saw the launch of the World Anti-Brain Doping Authority this year. But jokes aside, drugs like Ritalin for ADHD and Modafinil for sleeping disorders are now being popped by people who want to be weller than well. Does the spectre of 'smart drugs' pose a challenge to our authentic selves? And what about the long term risks?

THE PHILOSOPHER'S ZONE - The only good philosopher is a dead one
Saturday 14 May, 1.30pm & Monday 16 June, 1.35pm RN
Or the only truly tested philosophy is that of a dead philosopher. When the philosopher dies, the philosophy is put to the test. Does is still seem valid? Or does it fade into irrelevance in the face of eternity? From the Sydney Writers' Festival, a conversation with Simon Critchley, author of 'The Book of Dead Philosophers'.

OCKHAM'S RAZOR - Public perception of potable water
Sunday 15 June, 8.45am RN
Emma Pratt is a science student at the University of NSW and her passion is water and how we're running out of it. She has two beakers of water – one from Sydney's Warragamba catchment area, the other beaker contains recycled effluent that has undergone a series of purification steps – which one would you drink? In 2006 the residents of Toowoomba were asked to vote on a proposal to have treated recycled water released into the Cooby dam. They returned a resounding 'no' vote but why? The science is there but obviously public support is not.

IN CONVERSATION - The principals of animal training
Thursday 19 June, 7.35pm
These days the carrot and stick approach can be applied to parenting or prison inmates or even employees but its origins are, of course, in trying to get a horse or donkey to comply with human commands. Does it depend on whether your training is intended to teach them to perform for humans or to simply not urinate on the lounge? Associate Professor of Veterinary Science at Sydney University Paul McGreevy, a previous winner of the international Prince Laurent Prize for his work on animal welfare has co-written Carrot and Stick – Principals of Animal Training and is In Conversation with Robyn Williams.
