This is an exciting new position for a motivated individual to
project manage an interdisciplinary research programme aimed at
taking cell-based therapies from the "bench to bedside". The UK Stem
Cell Foundation, Medical Research Council, Scottish Enterprise and
the Chief Scientist Office are co-funding this important research
effort which forms part of the Bone and Cartilage Repair Programme
within the MRC Centre for Regenerative Medicine.
The project will combine existing and evolving protocols for the
directed differentiation of adult stem cells with novel therapeutic
carrier/scaffold technologies. A team of scientists will undertake
this work, which will include stem cell biology, scaffold manufacture
and slow drug release techniques and translation to clinical GMP
standards.
The successful applicant would be required to co-ordinate and develop
strategies for the management of the Human Cell Based Therapies for
Musculoskeletal Tissue Project. The successful applicant would be
primarily responsible for project management within the project and
reporting of the efforts of principal investigators and staff across
disciplines in a proactive and effective way to facilitate the
success of the project. In liaison with relevant bodies the
successful candidate would also be responsible for the commencement
of GMP compliant studies, clinical trial design and initiation.
