A position is available in the Diabetes Transplant Unit at the Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney for a relatively independent person with experience to create a human pancreatic progenitor cell line for the treatment of diabetes.
Experience in primary cell culture, creation of gene constructs, lentiviral mediated gene delivery, immunohistochemistry, radioimmunoassay, FACS and rodent transplantation will be helpful as these are skills required for the project.
The Diabetes Transplant Unit, which is part of the University of New South Wales, is a cutting edge transitional research group of 15 working on a number of cell therapies for diabetes, including human embryonic stem cells, cord blood stem cells, adult human islets and immature human and pig islets. Salary is A$63,905 – 68,354K per year (plus 9% employer superannuation and leave loading).
