[StemCells] Liver transplant changed blood type

Blood Type Changed by Liver Transplant
Nine-year-old Demi-Lee Brennan had a liver transplant at Sydney
Children's Hospital. Nine months after the surgery her blood type and
immune system had changed to that of the livers donor.

It is believed that a rare series of events caused stem cells from the
donated liver to migrate to her bone marrow, in effect giving her a
marrow transplant.

Miss Brennan is now a healthy 15 year old according to her hepatologist
Michael Stormon. Demi-Lee is now being treated on as out patient.
Storman believes that this case is one of a kind.
