[StemCells] By C.P.M, do you mean central pontine myelinolysis ?

**Answer as a new post ... Replies don't seem to be posting**

Do you know why/how the condition occurred? How pervasive is it?

I know that Dr. Joanne Kurtzburg at Duke University has been
successful w/Cord Blood studies. Her fingerprints are on many of the
cord blood study successes and she may be an excellent contact for
you.

2Ftips_detail.php&id=4668 (info on her)
Contact info: http://www.dukemednews.org/experts/detail.php?id=123

I'd start there (indeed, any related study will list the head
researcher - who is most likely associated w/an
university/hospital ... a search on the website of which would
probably yield their email ... contact them. Many will reply.)

I'm not sure about the remylenation in that area of the brain - but
cord blood can cross the blood/brain barrier either to deliver
repairative or drug therapies, and has shown promise with cp ...
again, Dr. Kurtzburg has done them. I have a few videos on cord
blood up at YouTube - search WayCurious.

You may be interested in the boys under photos - treated by Dr.
Kurtzburg. They have Krabbe, another leukodystrophy - and show the
value of early intervention for enzyme deficiencies.

MS has been successfully treated by Dr. Richard Burt of NW Memorial
Hospital in Chicago ... he DOES have ongoing clinical trials.

Sadly, I don't see any studies currently recruiting for this
condition at ClinicalTrials.gov . Search there often ... even for
similar conditions as they could be good contacts as well. (Note:
the more invasive the studies/treatments in which he is involved, the
LESS likely he would be used in early studies because the researchers
want *clean* subjects so they can be sure it was their treatment that
caused improvement ... so choose carefully!)

SAFETY NOTE: Embryonic stem cells are NOT ready for 'prime time'.
They form tumors in the subjects with such regularity ... tumor
formation is a preliminary test for them. Inject under mouse skin.
No tumor = no ES . (Rader's appear to be a few dead cow ones.) The
only way around the tumor issue is to mature the stem cells to final
tissue - so you would have to surgically remove/replace ... and the
tissue would be like it came from you ... with a life-time of
immunosupressing drugs and still a big risk of rejection. NO
LEGITIMATE CLINIC WILL USE EMBRYONIC STEM CELLS at this stage of
technology.

I'll try to get more to you with more info from you.
