CRISP-Computer Retrieval of Information on Scientific Projects
CRISP (Computer Retrieval of Information on Scientific Projects) is a searchable database of federally funded biomedical research projects conducted at universities, hospitals, and other research institutions. The database, maintained by the Office of Extramural Research at the National Institutes of Health, includes projects funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services (SAMHSA), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDCP), Agency for Health Care Research and Quality (AHRQ), and Office of Assistant Secretary of Health (OASH). Users, including the public, can use the CRISP interface to search for scientific concepts, emerging trends and techniques, or identify specific projects and/or investigators. Below you will be able to access additional general information about the CRISP database, as well as obtain answers to questions frequently asked about CRISP. In addition, this home page serves as the gateway to interactive searching of Award Information.

This group attempts to link families in the Greater Madison, WI area who have a child or children with type 1, insulin-dependent diabetes. The group provides a forum for parents to share information (not a substitute for the advice of a physician) and to coordinate events for their children. These events will provide a forum for the children to meet others like themselves who also have type 1 diabetes. The group is mainly focusing on children from birth to age 12.

This is NOT the place for a discussion of the ethical issues plaguing this research.
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/StemCells/

YAHOO GROUPS-Stem-Cell_Therapy · Stem-Cell Therapy
Stem-cells have been called "the holy grail of biology" because they have the capacity to become any of the other cells of the body. Additionally, engineered cells might be used to reseed the body, as one would a tired-old-lawn. These cells might not even be derived of human stock, but could be of anything that could be made histocompatible, producing what might be called a somatic-chimera, a creature altogether new to the world.

SCAN-Stem Cell Action Network
We are a grassroots, volunteer group of patients and their families and friends. We join with our nation's scientists, researchers and universities to support adult and embryonic stem cell research, including nuclear transfer (NT), also known as "therapeutic cloning". It is premature to cut off any promising path of medical research. We believe, as do most Americans, that cells in a lab dish -- cells that will never be implanted in a womb, that can develop into new tissue to repair damage and can reveal clues as to the mysterious processes of cell development – should serve the human ends of research, which should go forward under the protection of careful regulation. This research has the potential to cure many so-called "hopeless" childhood and adult medical conditions, including Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, juvenile diabetes, M.S., A.L.S. and spinal cord injury.

See also - Statements of the WTA (including *Cloning*) - http://www.transhumanism.org/resources/statements.htm and the Transhumanist Declaration - http://www.transhumanism.org/declaration.htm - Transhumanism: The intellectual and cultural movement that affirms the possibility and desirability of fundamentally improving the human condition through applied reason, especially by developing and making widely available technologies to eliminate aging and greatly enhance human intellectual, physical, and psychological capacities. Transhumanists encourage study and discussion of emerging technologies which overcome the limitations of the human body, and the consequences of those technologies. We also seek to expand technological opportunities for people to live longer and healthier lives and to enhance their intellectual, physical, and emotional capacities.
