BORS / ORS Travelling Fellowships
The British Orthopaedic Research Society (BORS), and its American
counterpart (ORS), have initiated a BORS-ORS Travelling Research
Fellowship. The purpose is to promote transatlantic interaction,
collaboration and enthusiasm for orthopaedic research among young
scientists and orthopaedic surgeons. It is expected that as a result
of their shared experience, the travelling fellows will form strong,
enduring professional and social ties both with each other and the
other orthopaedic researchers they encounter.
On alternate years, a group of US fellows will visit the UK and vice
versa. The group will comprise 2 biologists, 2 engineers and 2
clinicians. Fellows will travel for about one month to the host
country, where they will visit approximately 6-8 orthopaedic research
centres. At each centre, the fellows will give talks about their own
research and listen to research talks from members of the host
institution. They will also visit laboratories and engage in similar
collegial activities pertinent to research. It is expected that they
will visit each centre for 2-3 days.
BORS/ORS fellowships - CALL 2009
The British Orthopaedic Research Society now invites applications from
UK biologists, engineers and orthopaedic surgeons involved in
musculoskeletal research for the 2009 travelling fellowships. This
will include the American ORS meeting in Las Vegas, 22-25th February 2009.
The biologists and engineers should be post-doctoral, and the
orthopaedic surgeons should have spent a period in full time research.
Applicants should be members of BORS by the time of application.
