Dr. Caifu Chen, Director of Research and Development for Applied Biosystems discusses topics in advancing microRNA applications. Dr. Chen is active in research and collaborations including stem cell biology, with recent publications in Nature Biotechnology and Mammalian Genome (July 2007/July 2007 resp.) on these topics. MSC2007

The Adult Mesenchymal Stem Cells in Regenerative Medicine (MSC 2007) will focus on technological and clinical advances of the use of mesenchymal stem cells derived from a variety of tissues (such as bone marrow, fat, cord blood, cord matrix, and amniotic fluid). The target audience is multi-fold: new and experienced investigators in the MSC field, students (graduate and post-doctoral), physicians and commercial entities interested in therapeutic opportunities with these cell types. Junior investigators and students will be given a venue to present their research in poster session and invited presentations. The goal is to provide a forum for exchange and discussion for this area of translational regenerative medicine.

What is the focus of MSC2007?

The meeting will focus on the isolation, characterization, purity, plasticity and clinical uses of adult Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs) from a variety of human and animal tissues including bone marrow, fat, cord blood and matrix, and placenta including amniotic fluid. Platform and poster sessions will emphasize the state-of-the-art technologies and clinical utility of these cell preparations within the context of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. Two invited lectures in each Session will be from national and international thought-leaders and 4-6 platform lectures will be chosen from submitted abstracts.

International Society for Cell and Gene Therapy of Cancer 2007 conference in Mumbai

Annual conference of the International Society for Cell and Gene Therapy of Cancer, to be held in Mumbai, India, on 16th to18th November this year. We are delighted to be able to hold this conference in Mumbai, a most important biotechnology hub in India, representing one of the fastest growing biotechnology sectors both academically and industrially. The main theme of the conference this year will be molecular diagnostics and therapeutics in cancer, and our aim is to host a widely inclusive multi-disciplinary conference covering not only cell and gene therapy, but also other important developments in the molecular diagnosis and therapy of cancer. This we hope will ensure both adequate representation of the local interests and expertise, and to encourage a broader exchange of ideas than has been the case at previous ISCGT conferences.
