IGF BINDING PROTEINS: MAKE ANOTHER LITTLE PIECE OF MY HEART NOW, BABY
Insulin-like growth-factor-binding protein 4 (IGFBP-4) promotes
cardiac development by binding to Wnt co-receptors and inhibiting
canonical Wnt signaling.

GAB1
http://ealerts.nature.com/cgi-bin24/DM/y/eltz0Xztnp0H2W0ByZl0EJ
Gab1 (Grb2-associated binder-1) is a member of the Gab family of
scaffold and adaptor proteins and connects a broad range of growth
factor and cytokine signals to intracellular signaling pathways. Gab1
is tyrosine phosphorylated upon recruitment to multiple receptor
tyrosine kinases and non-tyrosine kinase receptors, and provides a
link to the activation of multiple downstream signaling pathways. The
signals initiated downstream from Gab1 have been shown to have
important roles in cellular proliferation, migration, scattering,
angiogenesis, survival, morphogenesis and development.

ANESTHETICS WORSEN POST-OPERATIVE PAIN
http://ealerts.nature.com/cgi-bin24/DM/y/eltz0Xztnp0H2W0ByLK0EW
General anesthetics induce unconsciousness by activating GABA
receptors. However, anesthetics can also stimulate TRP channels such
as TRPA1 and TRPV1, which activate pain-sensing nerves throughout
the body and may contribute to post-operative pain and inflammation.
